Introduction
Heparin is a blood thinner or an anticoagulant i.e. which is responsible for preventing blood clots formation. It is usually used in treatment of blood clot in heart, veins or lungs. They are generally used before surgical procedure, at the time of dialysis or when blood is taken for sampling mostly during blood transfusion. Apart from this it is also used to treat various blood clot disorders. In pharmaceuticals, type of heparin used is from meat of specific animal’s body parts such as cattle’s lungs and pig’s intestine which is derived from specific mucosal tissues. Heparin is injected in the vein or under the skin but not into the muscle and amount of dose depends upon the response to treatment, the weight and patient’s medical condition. Heparin is available in multiple ranges, and as it may also cause fatal injuries, hence, extreme precaution should be taken. The regular use of heparin could help in distributing best results.
