Thiocolchicoside is a muscle relaxant drug with analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. It is a naturally occurring glucoside from a plant source and is commonly used to relieve painful muscle contractions, muscle stiffness, joint, & nerve diseases, and low backache in adults including adolescents above the age of sixteen years. It works on the centers in spinal cord and brain to relieve muscle stiffness without decreasing strength. This drug is available in ointment, tablet, and injection forms. The side effects of thiocolchicoside includes allergy, sleepiness, nausea, and vasovagal reactions. It can also cause headache, itching & skin rash, and swelling of face, lips, eyelids, etc. This medicine is not suggested for the patients those are allergic to thiocolchicoside or any other inactive ingredient existing along with it.
