The report provides analysis of global Fuel Ethanol market for the period 2016-2027, wherein 2020 to 2027 is the forecast period and 2019 is considered as the base year.

Market Insights

The engine fuel is petrol or ethyl alcohol. It is used as a fuel additive in many countries. In Brazil, the permissible mix is 25 percent and 75 percent respectively for gasoline and petrol. The world's fuel ethanol is now experiencing an unprecedented period of growth, leading to expanded use in end-use industries. Since several countries have effectively banned the use of leaded gasoline, ethanol additives are used to replace led fuel. Although fermentation is the most popular form of ethanol production, the recent creation and marketing of cellulosing ethanol may dramatically increase ethanol output in the industry.  The demand is largely influenced by growing environmental concerns and the need to reduce emissions of GHGs. Fuel-ethanol industries also have a strong effect on mixing requirements by regulatory bodies. In addition, it is also predicted that the advent of bioethanol of second and third generations would provide the boost demand growth during this forecast period.

Regional Stance

The largest share in the world fuel ethanol market was held by North America in 2019 and a similar pattern is anticipated in the forecast timeframe. The developed auto industry and strict ethanol mixing requirements in the US foster demand in the country. Throughout the US, the blending requirement for all vehicles with ethanol for 2007 or older is actually 10 percent; the mingling law for cars and light-duty vehicles with ethanol is 15 percent; and for Midwest vehicles, the mixing requirement is 85 percent. The new Canadian ethanol blended requirement is 5% and the target is 10% by 2020.

The Paris Convention was ratified in 2016 by Canada and by the end of 2030 Canada declared its projected emission-reducing goal of almost 30%. In this regulatory situation, low-carbon content fuels are used to improve which would potentially have an effect on the use of ethyl alcohol.

Asia-Pacific will show rapid growth during the forecast period. In addition to government programs in favor of sustainable growth, the rising amount of international investment is projected to improve fuei ethanol use in the years to come. The current mixing requirement of India is 2-3 percent, which is projected to grow by 2022 to 10 percent. By the year 2020, China strives for a 10% mixing requirement. Through the year 2025, Indonesia has set an target of 20% fuel ethanol blending.
